You pay half when you commit, and you only pay the other half if I get you the results you're hoping for.

$0

more if you're unsure whether you achieved the result

The standard offer is $1,800 for the three months, or $700 a month.

Why I'm running it

Real change requires real commitment from both the trainer and the client. Your initial investment helps us commit. But if I don't take you where you want to go, I don't get paid.

Shout out to Chris Lakin for the inspiration behind this. Chris does incentive-aligned coaching for AI researchers.

How it works

The structure

  1. You define the goal, and we build a practice that will get you there. It has to be realistic, and connected to something you actually really, really want.

  2. You pay half when you commit: $900. The other $900 you pay if I get you the results you're hoping for. Scholarships are for the standard offer only: I don't want the experiment to put someone who needs a scholarship in a bad spot.

What I ask of you

  1. The results depend on you doing the practice: at least one live session a week, plus four hours on your own. If you need to miss a live session, that's okay. As a default, don't commit to the twelve-week program if you'll need to miss more than two live sessions. Also, don't commit to the program if you can't reliably put in four hours on your own each week.

What happens if…

  1. If you hit the goal early, say at week four, the second half is paid then, and we keep going. You get your weekly sessions for the full three months. If you want to hit another goal, great.

  2. If we finish and you haven't reached the goal:

    • You pay me what you think it was worth, assuming you're continuing to make progress.
    • If you feel you're not making progress toward the goal, you pay nothing on top of the initial commitment.
    • If you're unsure whether or not you've achieved the result, you pay nothing.

For a measurable goal (say, your first pull-up), achievement is clear. For a goal that relies on your felt sense, it's up to you.

  3. If you get injured or sick, we pause, or we mutually recalibrate your goal to your new circumstances.

  4. If you stop partway without injury or illness, you owe the other half, the same as you would on the standard offer.

  5. If you decide it's not for you after the first full session, you get a full refund. After session one, we're mutually locked in!

What goals work

  • The goals I see most are finding enjoyment in movement and establishing a practice.
  • Sometimes it's as mundane as knowing what you're doing at the gym: what counts as good form and what doesn't.
  • Then there's strength and skill work: barbells, kettlebells, machines, running, cycling, dance.
  • Gymnastic and bodyweight strength has been a particular focus of mine: ring work, animal movement, locomotion, your first handstand, your first push-up, all the way up to your first muscle-up.
  • And there's complementing athletic performance: a bespoke program to help you perform better in whatever context you play in. Grappling, climbing, field sports, court sports: I have at least some experience in all of them.

This is for people who feel very strongly about reaching their goal. If you're not sure if I can help with your particular goal, ask! I'll let you know if it's possible. I only accept goals I can confidently coach you toward. Process goals (running three times a week) and result goals (a mile time, a back squat number) both work. For weight loss and nutrition I can serve as an accountability partner and resource guide, not as an expert.
